What I liked

Starbucks as a company allows us to create a safe place for anyone to come. They give us the verbage to deal with hard customers, and the resources to make the situation right. I have an amazing manager and amazing coworkers. I also love the chaos that is controlled and systematic.

What I wish was different

Nothing

Advice

If you focus on one thing at a time (like making the drink in your hand), it makes the chaos easier.

Shift supervisor

February 2018 • Renton, WA

What I liked

I love working for a company that supports me as a student. The hours are flexible and the benefits, even for shift workers are unbeatable. Starbucks calls all of its employees “partners” because they get stock grants from the very beginning. While this job isn’t for everyone, it has enhanced my personal learning experience and I’ve been able to work, go to school, and learn management skills at the same time!

What I wish was different

This job can be a bit stressful, but if you enjoy meeting people and coffee, it might be for you.

Barista

August 2020 • Dallas, OR

What I liked

I love working with other customers and being a part of such a caring and flexible team!

What I wish was different

We are one of the last kiosks in a safeway to be updated, so we can't really give customers what they want sometimes. Our equipment is over 15 years old and it can be frustrating because people expect a lot from the Starbucks company.

Advice

Make sure you love the customer/barista experience, because if you don't, working in customer service might not be for you!
