What I liked

I loved being able to train new workers and being able to relate it to my teaching studies. Different aspects of the job allow for students to relate back to their studies and allow for experience to be built up.

What I wish was different

The interview style for promoting to higher positions is very by the books. You must memorize answers given by your manager that will satisfy your district manger. I wish it was more personalized.

Advice

It’s exciting and challenging. If you are willing to work hard, you will have fun. It’s definitely not an easy job but incredibly rewarding. There are plenty of benefits, even for part time workers, including free college through Arizona State University.

October 2018 • Las Vegas, NV

What I liked

I love the socializing and customer service aspects of the job. After being a stay at home mom for a year and a half I very much missed these things!

What I wish was different

I enjoy how things work there; higher pay would be nice, but I don't work stress or strain myself physically or mentally so it's not a big deal that the pay is what it is (since I'm not the sole provider for my household).

Advice

I absolutely love the atmosphere and the benefits of working as a barista for Starbucks, I recommend it for everyone at some point in their career.

August 2018 • Greenville, TX

What I liked

I enjoy the friends that I've made working for the company. We are all in this together and simply make the best of a difficult situation.

What I wish was different

The pay rate. No person who works in customer service is paid enough.

Advice

If you want to work for Starbucks you had better have a lot of patients because they will be tested on a nearly daily basis with a difficult to please customer base.

Barista

June 2019 • Memphis, TN

What I liked

I liked that the job was fast pace and easy to learn. I also really enjoy the benefits of getting insurance and security that wherever I end up after undergrad, I would have a job at Starbucks.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had also taken a few summer classes so that I could have a lighter load this past semester. I decided to only work because I thought I would be too busy, but I should have knocked out my last science class.

Advice

I would advise anyone that wants to have a part time job and take classes to believe in themselves. It’s difficult but it is doable if you make time for it and work around your school schedule.

August 2017 • Wexford, PA

What I liked

I personally loved being able to create connections with the customers, especially the regulars, and being able to make a positive impact on someones day with something as simple as a drink.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been able to bring the experiences with me, without having to leave behind so many faces I grew to know.

Advice

I would share with everyone to just be kind. You never know what others are going through and something as simple as a smile or a "Have a good day!" could change their whole mood.
